About His People Gaborone

What is our purpose?

  • We exist to honour God and make disciples

  • The Great Commission is our mission — Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..."

What is really important to us... what are our values?

Our values determine who we are and are the driving force behind everything we do in our church. Here are our 5 core values:

  1. We value obedience to Christ and His word because it is the mark of a disciple and flows from a heart that is in love with Jesus. We call this Lordship.

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me." John 14:21

  2. We value spiritual growth because our relationship with Jesus (where we actively follow Him) is the basis of our strength and growth as individuals and as a church. We will not settle to be hearers only; we are doers of the word. We call this Discipleship.

"If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit..." John 15:5

  3. We value reaching the lost because this is the core business and passion of our Father and therefore also our core calling and our passion — we are His co-labourers. We call this Evangelism

"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Luke 19:10

  4. We value leadership. We have to be able to lead ourselves, if we are ever going to influence families, businesses, communities and eventually societies. Every disciple is called to personal leadership and external influence.

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him." 2 Corinthians 2:14

  5. We value lasting relationships. We do not believe that our marriages, natural family relationships or spiritual family relationships are disposable. We believe in growing together and advancing God's kingdom in unity. This is what is meant with family.

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:3

His People Gaborone GROWTH PATH

  • Our goal is to make disciples who will make disciples.

  • What does a disciple look like? We believe disciples are followers of Jesus in every area of their lives; they are connected to a spiritual family and they actively reach out to the lost.

  • This is what we mean with our motto: FOLLOW — LEAD — IMPACT

  • We aim to do this as a church by focussing on 4 key stages. This is called our GROWTH PATH:

    1. Connect

    2. During this stage we focus on building authentic relationships with people to connect them to God and our spiritual family.

      • Get connected to God through Prayer and the Word (S.O.A.P)
      • Get connected to the spiritual family through One2one, Reach-groups and Sunday worship services

    3. Establish

    4. The word "establish" means "to strengthen and make permanent". We aim to lay biblical foundations and establish believers in:

      • Faith (Biblical Foundations; S.O.A.P)
      • Spiritual freedom (Victory Weekend)
      • The church (Spiritual Family Class)

    5. Equip

    6. We believe that every member should be a minister and able to minister effectively to others. For this reason we equip believers for ministry through:

      • Bible School
      • Making Disciples Course
      • How to training

    7. Empower to Expand

    8. This is the phase where we see the church expands. Established disciples who have been equipped start to influence those around them for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

      • Starting a Reach-group
      • Engaging others with One2one
